About This Site

Author photo Isn't it Obvious is an online diary of news items, websites, and blog posts that I am reading. It's obvious you should read them too. You and I are now part of the biggest social science experiment of the 21st century.

It's Thursday

Posted by Diane C. in Humor at 12:36
It's Thursday and that means it's Recycle Day....at least for me.

Here's some lunch-time reading to amuse and enlighten you.

The politics of humor: Religious extremism? What a joke.

Johann Hari sees the stand-up comics at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and realizes that religious humor has changed. Out with the priest, the rabbi, and the minister and in with the mad mullahs and the crazy rapture peeps.

And an ex-pat Iranian atheist rants about the absurdity of being looked at as a "Muslim terrorist" ....and at the same time having to explain why she doesn't wear that hijab thingie.

Pity for Old Politicians

Posted by Diane C. in Humor at 19:57
It's tough being an old politician. You master radio, you master t.v. news, you master the cable shows...and yet there's always something new in media land to trip you up.

It's YouTube.

Your every stupid utterance can be heard continuously on YouTube...24 hours a day in every country that has a broadband connection...those tubes.

See what I mean.

Zarathustra's Matzo Chicken Soup

Posted by Diane C. in Humor at 21:43
From the New Yorker:

Woody Allen almost makes up for Match Point (London made too pretty and adultery with Scarlett J. boring).

Read his review for the long-lost diet book from Friedrich Nietzche.

What do scientists do in their spare time... Watch YOUTUBE.

From Respectful Insolence: Watch what happens when Darth Vader tells the Emperor the Death Star has been destroyed.
